The Godfathers of Heavy Metal and inspiration for countless bands and musicians returned in full force after about 20 years to show all the young kids their history and to remind all the older fans what the magic was all about.
Black Sabbath looked crisp and clean and had what was quite possibly their best sound and performance yet.
When Sab hit the stage, the crowd knew what it was in for but didn't realize just how well this foursome would perform after such an absence. In the end, there was no question and there were no regrets. Black Sabbath ended their legacy in the finest form. The three instrumentalists - Geezer Butler on bass, Bill Ward on drums, and Tony Iommi on guitar - churned out the music as it may never had been heard before while a slimmed-down and healthy looking Ozzy Osbourne dispelled any rumors of vocal problems and belted out the classic Sab tunes in his trademark style. Black Sabbath had returned and, in far too short a time, were done. History had ended.
As an end note though, it seems as though Ozzy and gang may continue if they can conceive what they consider the "ultimate album".
